The texts included in Mousehold Words are stored in a new file format called SEEM, for Simple Extensible Etext Markup.

SEEM is an XML-style markup language designed to represent a book or other text document in a simple, human-readable, portable and extensible format. The goal of the SEEM format is to provide a way to store text information which is often not well represented in plain text or HTML etexts, while allowing easy, automatic conversion to those formats.
