Louisa May Alcott

American children's novelist (1805-1882)

About Louisa May Alcott

Louisa May Alcott was a feminist, an abolitionist, and a philosopher who studied with Emerson and Thoreau. However, she is remembered today for her novels, and especially for Little Women and its sequels.

Alcott's writings were intended for children, and many were published in the children's periodicals of her day, such as Saint Nicholas and Merry's Museum.
